What local pickup and local delivery mean for your store

Local pickup and local delivery let you fulfill nearby orders without traditional shipping. These options help lower delivery costs, speed up order handling, and give customers flexible ways to receive their purchases.

  • Pickup in store allows customers to collect their orders from your location. This option is always free.
  • Local delivery lets your team deliver orders directly to customer addresses within a defined area. You control pricing and delivery rules.

What customers see for delivery

When eligible, checkout shows Local delivery as the shipping option. Customers must enter a valid address and phone number.

Important: Local delivery only works with Shop Pay. It does not work with Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay, or PayPal.

Using pickup and delivery together

You can offer both options at the same time. Eligible customers choose their preferred method at checkout, and you fulfill based on that selection.

Best practices

  • Use clear location names
  • Set realistic preparation times
  • Use minimum order values for delivery
  • Create delivery zones to control costs
  • Promote these options on your website
