Cash on Delivery (COD) in Shopify lets customers pay in cash when their order is delivered. It is one of the most trusted payment methods in India, UAE, Southeast Asia, and other regions where shoppers prefer paying after receiving their product.

You can enable COD in Shopify by adding it as a manual payment method from your Payments settings.

Why Enable Cash on Delivery in Shopify?

  • Increases trust for first-time buyers
  • Boosts conversion rates in local and rural markets
  • Helps reduce checkout hesitation
  • Works perfectly for delivery-based businesses

Step 1: Open Shopify Payment Settings

Log in to your Shopify admin and go to Settings → Payments.

Step 2: Add a Manual Payment Method

Scroll to the Manual payment methods section and click Add manual payment method.

Step 3: Choose Cash on Delivery

Select Cash on Delivery (COD). You can add instructions such as:
“Please pay the delivery person in cash when your order arrives.”

Step 4: Save and Activate COD

Click Activate to enable COD on your Shopify checkout page.

Step 5: Test COD on Checkout

Place a test order to confirm that the COD option appears correctly during checkout.

Pro Tip

To avoid fake orders, consider using order confirmation SMS or WhatsApp verification for COD purchases.
