How do I customize my Shopify theme using the theme editor?
Shopify theme customization means changing your store’s design so it looks and feels like your brand. You can change colors, fonts, layout, banners, and page sections without any coding. A well-customized store builds trust, improves browsing, and increases sales.
Before you start
Always duplicate your theme before making changes. This keeps your live store safe.
Go to: Online Store > Themes → Click the 3 dots → Duplicate

Step 1 – Open the Shopify theme editor
From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes and click Edit Theme.

Step 2 – Customize the announcement bar and header
Use the announcement bar to show offers, shipping updates, or store messages. The header controls your logo, menus, spacing, and colors.

Step 3 – Edit page sections
Click any section like image banners, collections, videos, or text blocks to change content, colors, and layout. You can drag sections up or down to rearrange your page.

Step 4 – Add, move, or remove sections
- Add: Click Add Section
- Move: Drag using the handle icon
- Remove: Click the trash icon


Step 5 – Customize the footer
Your footer controls social links, policies, email signup, payment icons, and country selector. Changes apply across the whole store.

Step 6 – Adjust theme settings
Click the gear icon Theme settings in the theme editor to control your store’s overall design and behavior.

Step 7 – Switch between pages inside the theme editor
At the top center of the editor, click the page selector (usually shows Home page) and switch to Products, Collections, Pages, or Blog posts to customize each page type separately.
Step 8 – Save and preview
After editing, click Save and preview your store on mobile and desktop to make sure everything looks perfect.
